Born in 1924 (Trapani, Italy), Carla Accardi is a painter who has contributed to affirmation of abstract art in Italy.
Accardi is one of the founders of the marxist group of artists “Gruppo Forma 1”. She uses colored and fluorescent varnishes by appllying them on transparent plastic substrates and involving the space.
For what concern the art work “Triplice tenda” (1971), Carla Accardi said: “I did no like the houses as they were. I found them to be heavy and ugly… I had been an admirer of Bauhaus, but I found that people lived in houses that were in bad state, That shoked me a bit. So I sought to create a decor that proposed an unusual of living, in terms the spiritual.”
